Megan's practice focuses on general liability, workers' compensation, dust diseases and institutional risk and liability.
Overview
Megan's practice is dedicated to providing legal support and representation across a range of industries, including retail, manufacturing, education, aged and disability care, transport, logistics, labour hire, mining, construction, hospitality, and not-for-profit services. She has acted for national, state and statutory insurers.
Megan has advised in all facets of workers' compensation and personal injury law under the Workers' Compensation and Rehabilitation Act 2003 (Qld) and Personal Injuries Proceedings Act 2002 (Qld), and has experience in managing litigated claims before the Magistrates, District and Supreme Courts of Queensland, as well as the Court of Appeal.
Megan takes a forensic approach to investigating personal injuries claims. She conducts direct investigations with clients, insureds and witnesses. Megan believes communication is key to developing strong relationships. She keeps all stakeholders well informed throughout the pre-proceedings and litigation process.
Conscious of ensuring the right balance between business and reputational matters, Megan takes a sensitive and considered approach to claims management, particularly in respect of the institutional risk and liability practice.
Listed in the 2022 "Inspo List" for the Women's Legal Association Queensland, Megan was also a finalist for the Lawyers Weekly 30 under 30 for 2023.
Megan was admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of Queensland in 2018 and the High Court of Australia in 2020. She was conferred a Bachelor of Laws (Hons), a Bachelor of Media and Communication and a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Queensland University of Technology in 2017.
Megan is heavily involved in the legal and insurance industry as a member of the Queensland Law Society, a committee member of Women in Insurance, Law Council of Australia Young Lawyers Committee Queensland Representative in 2022 and President of Queensland Young Lawyers in 2021.
