Overview

Gavin is a trusted advisor to his clients and sought after for his no-nonsense advice. He has expertise in general liability and professional indemnity and acts for Australia's largest insurers, London market insurers and corporations. 

Gavin's practice involves defending professional indemnity claims for a range of professionals, including accountants, real estate agents, financial planners, insurance brokers, barristers and construction and design professionals. He also advises underwriters on complex indemnity issues and double insurance.

Gavin has particular experience in claims for allied health and medical professionals and their employers. He has acted for acupuncturists, psychologists, radiographers, chiropractors, physiotherapist, sonographers, IVF clinics, Chinese traditional medicine practitioners, laser clinicians, optometrists, pharmacists, massage therapists, and personal trainers amongst others. These matters range from responding to HCCC and AHPRA complaints (and appeals) through to large complex civil claims for personal injury, as well as coronial inquests and Medicare audits.

Gavin has extensive expertise in general liability claims including bodily injury, property damage and product liability against builders, contractors, retailers and occupiers of commercial premises. He has handled many complex high value claims involving catastrophic injuries, sensitive matters and those involving multiple jurisdictions.

Gavin also advises his clients on risk management, recent legislative changes, and policy drafting and interpretation.

Gavin is listed The Best Lawyers in Australia in Insurance Law and Personal Injury Litigation. Gavin has also been recognised in Doyle's Guide as a Public and Product Liability Lawyer in New South Wales.

Gavin was admitted as a solicitor in NSW in 1995 and is admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of NSW, Federal Court and High Court.
