Colin Biggers & Paisley's Property and Insurance teams continue to grow, welcoming six new lawyers, with senior associates Karissa Andrejic and Victoria Ructtinger joining the national Property & Development team, and Joydeep Kaur, Ashleigh Warren, Chris Johannes and Isaac Rowe bolstering the practice’s market leading insurance group.
The new appointments, across the Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney offices reinforces the practice's ongoing commitment to investing in its areas of focus and to continue providing outcome focused legal solutions. These appointments are particularly significant as the practice nears its 125th anniversary in 2025.
Karissa brings extensive experience in capital and commercial transactions, leasing and body corporate law and will be managing a diverse range of property transactions, including the acquisition and disposal of large commercial sites. She will also represent developers in residential and commercial projects, overseeing all due diligence, joint venture agreements and lending arrangements, in addition to commercial and retail leasing, body corporate management, and business sale transactions.
Victoria's specialist expertise in dispute resolution with a background in strata and insurance law, will see her act for companies, owners corporations’, associations, property owners and insurers. Her experience in litigation across federal and New South Wales jurisdictions and in lower Victorian Courts, will ensure she can deliver the best outcomes for clients.
Joydeep joins the Insurance group in Melbourne to focus on employment practice liability (EPL). She has broad experience in employment and safety law in both Australia and New Zealand and has managed litigation in complex matters in the Federal Court of Australia, Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia, Fair Work Commission and various state based tribunals and Magistrate Courts.
Ashleigh also joined the Melbourne insurance group to focus on EPL. She has experience defending employers in a wide range of claims including general protections and unfair dismissals, discrimination and sexual harassment, underpayments and Fair Work Ombudsman underpayment prosecutions. She provides strategic advice to protect clients' interests, while focussing on resolution.
Chris recently rejoined the practice following time as a claims consultant at a major Australian insurer. He advises insurers on coverage and defended disputes involving professionals, applying his knowledge to a diverse client portfolio including senior barristers, real estate agents, insurance brokers, accountants, allied health practitioners and building consultants. He is based in Sydney.
Isaac joins our Brisbane insurance practice, bringing extensive experience acting in complex and high value insurance claims. Drawing on his experience both in private practice and corporate in-house roles, he provides his clients with strategic and practical advice on matters involving occupiers' liability, products liability, property damage and workplace injuries.
