Colin Biggers & Paisley further strengthens its offering for Melbourne's property and development sectors

National law firm Colin Biggers & Paisley is continuing to bolster its property and construction expertise in Melbourne with the appointment of a new Partner in the Construction & Engineering team. Kerry Ioulianou, alongside solicitor Harrison Morley, joins the practice from Lander & Rogers, bringing significant experience in the property and construction sectors.

Kerry brings particular experience advising developers, constructors, major infrastructure contractors, specialist subcontractors, and construction professionals on construction and property development projects across the energy, mining & resources, road & rail, and aged & community care industries. His ability to navigate complex multi-party disputes has made him a trusted advisor to clients across all levels of the construction industry.

This strategic move reinforces the firm’s focus on providing end-to-end property development services. The addition of Kerry comes after the practice's recruitment of David Passarella in late 2022, who joined from Mills Oakley to lead the Melbourne Planning, Infrastructure & Environment group.

Commenting on the appointment, National Construction and Engineering Practice Leader, James Neal, remarked, "Our team is thrilled to have Kerry join us. His areas of expertise align with our built environment focus in Melbourne and rounds out our end-to-end service approach across our Construction, Property and Development and Planning Infrastructure & Environment groups."

The start of the financial year also saw James appointed as the National Practice Leader of the Construction & Engineering group. Sydney based, James brings over 20 years of construction legal experience and has a particular focus on dispute resolution and litigation. James will lead the national Construction & Engineering practice as it continues to work on complex infrastructure, residential and commercial builds with some of Australia's largest private and public property developers and constructors.

Building on James' comments, Melbourne based Rhett Oliver, the National Practice Leader of the Property & Development Group, and David Passarella, the lead Melbourne Planning, Infrastructure & Environment partner, also remarked, "We have committed to our clients to have the very best partners in our specialist service offerings of construction and, property and development - which are strategic focus areas of our practice - and our point of difference in the legal services market. We are confident Kerry's appointment will see us delivering on this commitment in spades".

Commenting on his new role, Kerry Ioulianou said, "Joining Colin Biggers & Paisley was an exciting opportunity. With its well-established construction practice across Australia and a rapidly expanding property and planning presence in Melbourne, I am eager to contribute to the team's growth and success.".
