David Passarella

Overview

He provides his clients with strategic advice on planning and environmental matters through the entire development process – from initial purchase and site acquisition to planning and development applications and strategies, including resolving the legal issues that arise in the process of developing and managing property.

David's practice is pro-development, and he has successfully supported clients in obtaining planning approvals for some of the largest private developments in the Melbourne CBD. He also advises on projects in surrounding metropolitan and regional areas and represents clients in environmental disputes and compulsory land acquisition claims. David frequently appears for his clients in tribunal, planning panel, and court processes, leveraging his expertise to secure favourable outcomes.

David acts for a diverse range of clients, including residential and mixed-use property developers, private landowners, and corporations in the commercial, retail, industrial, and health and aged care sectors.

In the 2025 edition of The Best Lawyers in Australia, David was recognised for his expertise in Litigation. David is a member of the Victorian Planning and Environment Law Association and regularly presents at industry events across Melbourne.

David holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Science and was admitted to practice in Victoria on 26 April 2004.

Outside of work David enjoys travelling, food and cycling.
