Patrick Robertson-Smith

Overview

Patrick specialises in insurance law having extensive experience in litigated and non-litigated matters in various courts throughout Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia and the Australian Capital Territory, including superior courts and courts of appeal.

Patrick specialises in institutional risk and liability claims and advisory, whilst also acting in dust disease matters, public liability, insurance recoveries, property damage, professional negligence, medical negligence as well as class actions and indemnity coverage. His clients include insurers, self-insurers, and private entities as well as an established history of working with government clients, reflecting his broad expertise in these numerous fields.

Patrick has also completed a number of external secondments, including taskforces within Victoria Police enacting recommendations following the Royal Commission into the Management of Police Informants as well as a major international retail chain. 

Patrick holds a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and a Bachelor of Commerce (Distinction) from Deakin University, having also completed study abroad at the London School of Economics in advanced mediation and negotiation. Patrick is currently undertaking his Master of Laws at Melbourne University and was admitted to practice law in Victoria in May 2020.
