National legal practice Colin Biggers & Paisley promotes 11 across key industries

Colin Biggers & Paisley continues to recognise top talent across it's areas of focus, including the elevation of three Sydney based lawyers to partner in the Insurance group.


Effective 1 July 2024, Vanessa Gulesserian, Trevor Ho and Susannah Maclaren will be promoted to partner in the Insurance group, with the following lawyers also recognised for their expertise and leadership at the practice.

The current round of promotions and appointments reflect Colin Biggers & Paisley's continued focus on core areas including insurance, construction, corporate advisory and the property industries.

Vanessa has extensive experience working in insurance litigation and has defended a wide range of professional indemnity and general liability claims, with strength in claims and disciplinary actions against allied health professionals and in property damage claims. She also advises insurers on policy interpretation and has acted on behalf of insurers in the defence of complex litigated indemnity disputes.

Trevor advises insurers in areas including director’s duties, regulatory investigations and class actions. He acts as coverage and monitoring for insurers, with expertise in complex coverage disputes and has extensive experience acting as defence counsel in litigated disputes.

Susannah has significant expertise in financial services regulation and remediation and has advised financial service providers across a broad range of issues, including dispute resolution, remediation and compliance. She has also represented domestic and foreign insurers in relation to coverage disputes and has acted on behalf of corporations, professional advisers and directors.

Bianca acts primarily on matters involving commercial, retail and telecommunications leasing, acquisitions and disposals, commercial property development and projects and property advisory work for a broad range of clients including local councils, statutory bodies, landlords, tenants, property developers/owners, receivers and managers and mortgagees exercising power of sale.

Isabella acts in commercial and construction litigation matters for both plaintiff and defendant clients. This includes construction and engineering companies, international corporations, large national businesses, small businesses, associations, not-for-profit groups, and high-net worth individuals.

Rosie's practice focuses on private M&A and commercial contracts including share and business sale agreements and shareholders agreements. Rosie has a particular interest in commercial goods, health, technology and procurement arrangements and regularly advises on corporate structuring and corporate governance matters.

Lauren's practice focuses primarily on the institutional risk and liability space and child safeguarding. She has experience in managing end-to-end legal claims in both litigated and unlitigated matters and works closely with faith based and not-for profit institutions, schools, child care and aged care providers, insurers and insurance brokers.

Patrick has a broad insurance practice in the general liability claims and professional indemnity space, whilst also maintaining a focus on institutional risk and liability. He has experience acting in defence of institutional risk and liability claims for insurers, insureds and private clients across a number of jurisdictions in Australia.

Karell acts in a range of litigated matters with a particular focus on employment and safety, representing employers across various sectors including insurance, education, faith-based, service, retail, financial, manufacturing, clubs, healthcare, and not-for-profit.

Justin acts primarily for private and insured clients in litigated building and construction disputes. He has over five years' of experience acting for plaintiffs, defendants, and insurers across professional indemnity claims, building defects claims, and owners corporation and strata disputes.

Sanaz has broad exposure and experience across all areas of insolvency and restructuring. She regularly acts for insolvency practitioners, secured creditors, company directors, and bankrupts in relation to disputes under the Corporations Act, Bankruptcy Act and Personal Property Securities Act.
