Overview
ESG goes beyond risks to mitigate. It reaches deep into almost every facet of a business’ operations. ESG is a broad responsibility and requires definition for each of our clients to mitigate priority areas of risk relevant to their operational impacts and core cultural purpose.
With ESG raising so many interconnected issues, our team is drawn from many of the firm’s specialist groups.
Our team provide a wholistic service offering in this space. ESG is best driven from the top down, so we work closely with boards to create and implement appropriate policies and monitor and measure their application.
For our clients:
- We review concerns about ESG deficiencies in collaboration with experts, and prepare reports to assist clients in overcoming those deficiencies, and addressing any ESG issues that arise out of discussions.
- We consider and set relevant ESG goals, including by benchmarking against industry standards and peers - including application of risk management principles to activities and decision-making processes; environmental due diligence; rational, responsible and efficient use of natural resources; setting and measuring KPIs; reducing emissions, waste and pollution and minimising carbon footprint; net zero targets including how to reach these and whether you would be looking to achieve net zero deal by your carbon offset.
- We review company policies to see if they may need to be supplemented with additional environmental or sustainability policies, which can then be turned into specific ESG goals that can be benchmarked against industry standards and peers. Our team works closely with other ESG experts to prepare tailored environmental and sustainability reports.
- In the social space, we assist with developing employment contracts and workplace policies including recruitment and selection, workplace conduct, anti-discrimination, sexual harassment, workplace bullying, inclusion and diversity, local employment and engagement, flexible work, as well as processes to measure and monitor the commitments made under these policies.
- When addressing governance issues, we work closely with you to review existing company governance and decision-making processes, including in relation to disclosure to markets in connection with ESG and if your company uses or provides data for any ESG rating agencies.
