A partner in Colin Biggers & Paisley's Property & Development group since 2008, Rhett is the national practice group leader. He works with leading property development and investment businesses across Australia providing them with an end-to-end real estate service.


Overview

Rhett has strong expertise in all aspects of property and development law in Victoria, Queensland and Tasmania.

Rhett values working closely with his clients, gaining an in depth understanding of their business to ensure he is providing them with tailored strategic advice that is the right fit for their projects.

His areas of expertise cover planning and infrastructure, acquisitions, disposals and leasing as well as corporate and project structuring and titling of major mixed-use, residential, commercial, health, integrated resort and aged-care/retirement developments. He advises both private and public entities across a range of industries.

He has been integral to the practice's holistic offering through his close relationships with the construction, planning, corporate and disputes and investigations teams.

Rhett is the primary architect behind Colin Biggers & Paisley's popular annual 'Property Think Tank' events in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney. The event brings together thought leaders in the property market to further innovation and opportunity in the industry.

In 2019 Rhett was recognised by Doyle's Guide as a recommended Property & Real Estate Lawyer in Queensland. In 2024 and 2025 Rhett was recognised by The Best Lawyers in Australia for his expertise in Hospitality and Tourism Law. In the 2025 edition of The Best Lawyers in Australia, Rhett was recognised for his expertise in Real Property law. He is a member of the Law Society of Queensland, the Law Institute of Victoria and has been an active participant with UDIA in Queensland and Victoria.

Rhett holds a Bachelor of Laws, Master of Laws and a Diploma in Legal Practice from the Queensland University of Technology. He was admitted as a solicitor on 12 December 2002 and is admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of Queensland and the High Court of Australia.
