Nicola Arvidson

Nicola has over 20 years' experience advising on statutory and accreditation compliance, corporate governance, legal risk management and commercial matters.


Overview

Nicola works closely with boards, committees and management on legal matters for incorporated and unincorporated associations, corporations, church property trusts and religious orders engaged in education, social services, retirement villages, aged care and affordable housing.

Nicola brings a unique perspective to her practice, having worked as General Counsel and Head of Compliance, Legal and Risk at the Catholic Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle prior to joining Colin Biggers & Paisley.

Nicola also has experience in infrastructure including roads, ports, airports, rail and water. In this capacity, Nicola supported Transport for NSW, Port Authority of NSW, Gunnedah Airport, Sydney Water and Sydney Catchment Authority. This work included sales, acquisitions, leasing, and compulsory acquisitions.

Nicola is an advisory board member of Domus 8.7, an agency of the Catholic Archdiocese of Sydney providing confidential support services to business, workers or people impacted by modern slavery. In the 2025 edition of The Best Lawyers in Australia, Nicola was recognised for her expertise in Real Property Law. 

Nicola was admitted as a solicitor in the Supreme Court of NSW on 25 May 2001 and the High Court of Australia. In addition to her Bachelor of Laws, Nicola holds a Bachelor of Arts from the Queensland University of Technology, and has completed her Graduate Diploma, Legal Practice at the University of Technology Sydney. 

Nicola is an Accredited Specialist in property law under the Law Society of New South Wales' Specialist Accreditation Scheme.
