Lana acts as defence counsel in complex litigated matters and regularly advises on coverage issues in professional indemnity and cyber insurance.


Overview

Lana specialises in cyber incident response, data breach regulatory investigations and IT liability matters. She has acted in a range of complex cyber matters advising on privacy, mandatory notification obligations and defending litigated and non-litigated third party claims. 

Lana has also acted for various professionals across a broad range of industries, including legal and medical professionals, accountants, engineers, builders, architects and strata management companies. Lana is adept at resolving disputes in a timely and cost-effective manner or litigating to successful outcomes where necessary.

Recently Lana completed a secondment to the financial lines claims team of a leading global insurer, with this experience providing her with invaluable insight into how insurers operate. This experience has helped shape how she delivers service that best supports insurers and their insureds, including in the cyber space.

Lana is actively involved in the Australian Insurance Law Association (AILA) as a member of the NSW committee and is the founder and chair of TechHub at AILA. TechHub explores and tackles the challenges and opportunities presented by digital and other technological transformations, including cyber risks, and raises awareness about the potential impact on the insurance industry by initiating and facilitating discussions and forums.

Lana was admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of NSW on 9 October 2009 and in the High Court of Australia on 7 December 2021. Lana was also admitted as a lawyer and barrister in Ukraine in 2002.
