Jane O'Neill
Partner
Jane's clients appreciate her "responsive and enthusiastic" approach to managing their legal requirements. Drawing on her experience in private practice and in ASIC's market enforcement team, Jane's practice comprises coverage and defence of claims and inquiries and investigations against professionals.
Overview
A distinct aspect of Jane's practice is advising and acting in statutory liability and prosecutions. She has been involved helping both insurers and insureds navigate investigations, inquiries and proceedings brought by ASIC and other government and statutory regulators.
This is complemented by Jane's professional indemnity experience defending sophisticated insureds who operate in complex professions. She has defended both finance firms and professionals (such as those in the financial advice, funds management, mortgage broker and insurance sectors) against complaints made against financial firms to the AFCA, as well as solicitors and barristers in claims brought by clients.
Jane has also acted for a range of construction professionals such as architects, engineers and building certifiers in high quantum, multi-party construction disputes in the Supreme Court of NSW.
Jane advises leading domestic and London market insurers on complex coverage issues arising under professional indemnity, management liability, investment managers and D&O liability policies.
Jane is recognised in The Best Lawyers in Australia, as a leading insurance lawyer and a leading construction and infrastructure lawyer.
Jane holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Western Australia. Jane was admitted as a solicitor on 2 March 2005. She is admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of Western Australia, New South Wales and the High Court of Australia.
