Ian Wright

Overview

Ian has a wealth of experience in providing legal advice, preparing and reviewing infrastructure agreements, drafting land use and infrastructure planning instruments, and drafting state and local government statutory instruments. Ian's contributions to state government legislation include the Urban Land Development Authority Act 2007, State Planning Regulatory Provisions for various Queensland Regional Plans, and amendments to significant Acts such as the Integrated Planning Act 1997 and the Brisbane Casino Agreement Act 1983. Ian also has a strong background in conducting planning, environmental, and public law litigation.

Ian is a multidisciplinary lawyer with a Bachelor of Laws (Honours), a Bachelor of Arts in Geography and Economics, and a Masters of Urban and Regional Planning. Ian is a Certified Practising Planner member of the Planning Institute of Australia, a trustee of the Committee for Economic Development of Australia, and a former President of the Queensland Environmental Law Association. Ian has also served as a lecturer in Environmental Law and Assessment at Queensland University of Technology from 1993 to 2015 and in Planning Law at the University of Queensland from 1997 to 2005
