Chris has expertise in personal injury claims and a focus on representing institutional clients in historical institutional abuse claims.
Overview
Chris has more than 10 years' experience as an insurance lawyer, with extensive experience in both litigated claims and matters pursued through alternative dispute resolution forums, including cases where there has been active media involvement.
Chris primarily acts for religious organisations and their insurers in the historic institutional abuse space, and also works with clients on the Federal Government's National Redress Scheme (Institutional Child Abuse), and (where applicable) their own pastoral care schemes.
Chris has acted for insurers, as well as their insureds directly, in both litigation and non-litigation contexts, in historic abuse cases. He also has expertise in professional indemnity claims, acting mainly for lawyers and their insurers, in both large-scale litigation (including shareholder class actions) and in smaller claims. He has represented insurers in a range of transport work, including marine recoveries and claims arising from road and sea carriage of goods.
In the 2022 edition of The Best Lawyers in Australia, Chris is listed for his expertise in Professional Malpractice Litigation.
Chris was admitted as a solicitor in Victoria on 27 April 2011. He is admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of Victoria, as well as the Federal Court and High Court of Australia. Chris holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Laws from Monash University.
