Overview
He acts for insurers and private clients as both defence and coverage counsel with a focus on professional indemnity disputes in the construction space.
Nelson has extensive experience defending design and construction professionals and pursuing subrogated recoveries on behalf of insurers. His clients include large international and Australian insurers in addition to international construction companies. Nelson has a particular interest in construction risk ranging from large-scale infrastructure projects to smaller residential matters.
In recognition of his standing in the market, Nelson was named in the 2024 and 2025 editions of Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch category for Insurance Law.
Nelson was admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of New South Wales and the High Court of Australia in 2016. He has a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Wollongong (2015).
