Jack Hamilton

Overview

He has a particular interest and expertise in mining resource liability, especially dust diseases such as silicosis. These medical conditions have increased in recent years due to the widespread use of engineered stone surfaces in the construction industry.

Drawn by the huge diversity of personal injury litigation, Jack enjoys the opportunity to work with and understand many different industries, learning from experts in varying fields. With matters ranging from public liability, property damage and recoveries, each has a multifaceted story behind it. Jack advises insurers on policy coverage and indemnity issues. He focuses on ensuring his advice provides practical and effective solutions to his clients' needs.

Jack represents a range of businesses in industries such as construction, insurance, transport and resources and individuals in the defence of claims. He advises major insurers such as Chubb, Zurich and Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance, and Coronado Global Resources and Bravus Australia in the mining space. 

Jack has gained valuable in-house experience while on secondment with an insurer. He says, "secondment gave me not only a good insight into how the client business operated, but a greater understanding of what the client needs from me as their advisor. It helped me to be more effective." Jack has also provided volunteer legal services to the NSW Cancer Council since 2019.

Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch 2024 named Jack for his work in insurance. He was also nominated as a Finalist for Lawyers Weekly, 30 under 30 awards, 2023. 

The Queensland University of Technology conferred a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) and a Bachelor of Business Management to Jack in 2019. He was admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of Queensland in 2019.
