Dr Andrew Murray

Andrew is the Deputy Managing Partner of Colin Biggers & Paisley and a partner in the Construction & Engineering team.
Overview
Working alongside Managing Partner Nick Crennan, Andrew leads the practice, which includes over 70 partners and more than 450 staff across offices in Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane, on its continued growth trajectory and to deliver outcome focused legal solutions to clients.
Andrew joined Colin Biggers & Paisley's Construction & Engineering team in 2010 and became a partner in 2016. Over his career at the practice, Andrew has co-chaired the Pride@CBP group, been a longstanding member of the Inclusion & Diversity Leadership Team, chaired the partner promotion interview panel, led graduate interview panels and has been a leader in the practice's learning and development programs.
Andrew advises principals, contractors, and subcontractors on contract documentation and project risk, leveraging his deep expertise in the construction industry. He specialises in construction contract drafting and resolving construction disputes through both litigation and alternative dispute resolution approaches. Andrew also has extensive commercial litigation experience, having conducted construction and general commercial litigation in the Federal, Supreme, and District Courts, including the Supreme Court's specialist commercial and technology and construction lists.
Since 2019, Andrew's experience has been recognised by leading industry directories such as The Best Lawyers and Doyle's Guide in the areas of construction, infrastructure and major projects, alternative dispute resolution and litigation.
Andrew holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) and a Bachelor of Laws (Honours). In 2018, he earned a doctorate from the University of Sydney for his thesis on reforming the law related to legal professional privilege in the context of expert evidence. Andrew was admitted as a solicitor in New South Wales on 6 October 2000.
