National Safe Work Month 2023

During National Safe Work Month this October, Colin Biggers & Paisley's employment and safety team will be focusing on how employers and PCBUs can create and maintain safe workplaces.


October is Safe Work Australia's National Safe Work Month providing an opportunity to commit to building a safe and healthy workplace.

Our employment and safety team have released short videos and articles focusing on this year's theme – for everyone’s safety, work safely – to encourage organisations and individuals to prioritise safety in the workplace and work towards reducing the number of work-related injuries, illnesses, and fatalities.

Week 1

Working together to manage risks at work - how we can work together to manage risks at work and build a safe work culture and workplace.

National Safe Work Month - Episode 1

In our article we explore some of the basic concepts of workplace health and safety, including risk management, and steps employers can take to improve workplace health and safety.

Week 2

Working together to protect workers’ mental health - how we can work together to protect workers' mental health and manage psychosocial risks.

National Safe Work Month - Episode 2

In our article we explore work-related psychosocial hazards, and how to identify, assess and manage these risks in the workplace.

Week 3

Working together to support all workers - how to provide a safe work environment for the most vulnerable workers.

National Safe Work Month - Episode 3

In our article we further examine how to proactively manage risks and how PCBUs can take necessary precautions to ensure they are providing a safe workplace for their workers and are meeting their statutory obligations.

Week 4

Working together to ensure a safe and healthy workplace - how do we prevent harm and address emerging technologies which may create further WHS risk.

National Safe Work Month - Episode 4

In our article we explore the future of WHS in Australia, discussing changing work patterns and the emerging technologies which may create further WHS risk.

Week 5

Wrap up - working together to ensure employers engage in regular and meaningful consultation, are proactive rather than reactive to issues in the workplace and can adapt in the face of change to ensure the safety of their workers.
