Colin Biggers & Paisley continues expansion in Melbourne

27 July 2016
Colin Biggers & Paisley continues its expansion with the appointment of construction and engineering partner, Catherine Bell.

Catherine has more than 20 years' experience in construction and infrastructure law, advising on major projects and acting in construction disputes. She acts for contractors, principals, consultants and project managers.

Catherine's appointment is part of a strategic move for Colin Biggers & Paisley to expand expertise in Melbourne.

Since merging with a Melbourne-based insurance firm in 2012, Colin Biggers & Paisley has grown headcount in Melbourne by 42% and added expertise in the areas of construction, property, corporate and dispute resolution through a number of strategic partner hires.

Managing partner, Dunstan de Souza, said that building the Melbourne office is a focus for the legal practice, ensuring that clients can be served nationally. "We're excited to have Catherine joining us in our Melbourne office. She has a wealth of experience and a reputation as a leading construction lawyer. Her appointment will continue to strengthen our position as a leading legal practice in the construction industry."

Catherine's appointment is the eighth lateral partner hire for the legal practice over the past 12 months.
Her appointment comes just weeks after the legal practice announced the commencement of property and development partner Peter Bournas and the promotion of Daniel Creasey, the Head of Pro Bono and Responsible Business, to partner.

Colin Biggers & Paisley has also recently appointed Stephen Thompson and Richard Arrage in its transport and logistics team and Rebecca Castley in its property and development team.
